Waiuku College

HIGH SCHOOL PLUS WORK EXPERIENCE

Waiuku College has created a work experience programme open to Year 13 students. It offers selected students the chance to do an internship in school holiday in a local work place.

The programme is designed to help students decide if they have chosen the right career and to give them a realistic impression of what to expect in their job. It also helps to build confidence in students planning to go on to tertiary studies after completing high school.

 ART AND CULTURE

Waiuku has a strong cultural awareness and identity. It supports Maori arts & culture and offers Maori performing arts, Maori carving, and Maori Language among its subjects. It also recognises and encourages cultural awareness among other cultures with a cultural week held each year.

The arts department encourages students to extend themselves creatively through music, drama, art, photography and design subjects.
