SPORTING

Rutherford College has a responsibility to it’s students to provide the opportunity to grow by engaging in our extensive co-curricular sporting programme. The college offers:
- A wide range of opportunities
- Full-time Sports Co-ordinator
- Good facilities and equipment
- Coaches and managers are available for many of the sporting codes
- Annual Sport Dinner
STUDENT LEADERSHIP

Senior students have opportunities to be trained and develop leadership skills in a variety of areas; peer support for year 9 students, peer mediators, peer reading and peer sexuality contact people.
Year 13 students also have the opportunity to become school prefects. Year 9/10/11/12 students can become members of the School Council which is led by the prefects.
ATOM- Achieving TO Our Maximum

It revolves around an academic and life mentoring programme.
The mentoring programme is led by the Tutor Teacher and the aim is for each student’s Tutor Teacher to be with them for their five years journey at Rutherford College.
ATOM Conferences is a vital part of this programme. This is a data informed Parent-Student-Tutor Teacher 20-30 minute conference, where students are able to show case their goals and their progress towards them. The purpose of the conference is to develop the student’s accountability for their goal and performance in a supportive environment.
CULTURAL OPPORTUNITIES

The college provides and encourages student participation in a wide range of cultural activities. By becoming involved in the cultural life of the school they gain memorable experiences as well as expanding and developing their interests and abilities.
Musical tuition is available with vocal groups, choirs and bands performing in the Studio Show and Luv Music events. For other clubs, interest groups and social action activities, there is a wide range of choice of students to discover such as the Environment Committee, Paw Justice, Amnesty International, 40 Hour famine, just to name a few.
